Dr. George "Joy" Ebisu is an engineer that works for Citrusoft Robotics, also known as the 'engineer with the Midas touch'[1]. He is responsible for creating both Giga-Robo and Chibi-Robo. He has a wife. When he was young, Citrusoft was just getting into the home electronics business.
180 Second Interview
Faux News went to Citrusoft Headquarters and interviewed Ebisu[2].
- "What was it like here when you began your career?"
Well, I was still a young buck, and Citrusoft was just breaking into home electronics. But sales were slow, and I started thinking 'bout my future, and I decided to make a revolutionary robot. Some jealous old-timers scorned my vision. Fortunately, the big boss understood my dreams. He always told me the same thing... "Technology that isn't helpful is intellectual arrogance."
- "So after many long hours you came up with Giga-Robo?"
Yep. The boss was really pleased. Said he felt like he had a new grandson...bot.
- "But your success didn't last very long, did it?"
No, you remember the energy crisis, right? The cost of electricity soared. It was hard to cope with.
- "So how did you recover? What did you do next?"
Well...There was nothing we could do about the cost of energy. I figured the only thing to do would be to make an energy-efficient robot. But!
- "You ran into a problem, didn't you?"
The boss said energy-efficiency alone wasn't the solution. He said that was only part of the answer, the easy part.
- "Merely being energy efficient wasn't enough?"
Trivia
- The name "Ebisu" is likely a reference to the real-world place called Ebisu in Japan, as this is/was the location of the company Skip.
