Karl is a human character from Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richie Ōsōji!. He dated Jenny Sanderson and together had a son named Keith. Unfortunately, Karl passed away in an unspecified accident before he and Jenny could get married.

Story

There are a handful of mentions of Karl throughout the story, but you learn more after the family meeting where Keith says he wants a dad.

Keith's exclamation makes Jenny uncomfortable, and on subsequent nights she will lock the door to her room. By entering the room via the pipe connected to the pond, you can talk to Jenny and she will explain the story of her and Karl. They dated but Karl never seemed interested in getting married, even after having Keith together. Only shortly before he died, Karl seemed to have changed his mind. His death left Jenny's dream of getting married unfulfilled.

After putting 10,000 Moolah into the savings jar to fulfill Keith's goal, there will be a commotion on the following night. Karl's soul will be pulled from the afterlife and transferred into the Savings Frog, bringing him back to life. Karl wonders if he can get back his human form. Moonlight comes in through the window and Karl (as a frog) turns human-sized. Just then, Jenny wakes up and comes to see what's happening. Karl hides behind the door until she leaves. When the moon is out of the window's view, he turns tiny again.

Karl tells Chibi-Robo that he wants to hold a wedding ceremony and marry Jenny. He immediately looks for Lucky in the search for his belongings, stopping in multiple rooms where he must be talked to before proceeding. After reach Karl reaches the Backyard, he learns Lucky buried the item he's looking for, so he asks Chibi-Robo to find it.

After working with Lucky to give the item to Karl, his soul will be freed from the jar; it's as if he's in the flesh again, though still tiny. Since he only becomes human-sized in the moonlight, Karl decides the wedding will be outdoors at night. Chibi-Robo and friends next set up their own secret savings goal of 30,000 Moolah to buy Jenny a wedding dress, after realizing the lack thereof. Keith finds out about everything and is more than happy to help. First, they ask Chibi-Robo to figure out Jenny's dress size, which you can do by measuring her while she is sleeping.

Karl then asks Chibi-Robo to go look for the set of wedding rings he bought before he died, stated to be in the cardboard boxes inside Jenny's room. After entering her room, she's in the crawlspace with the boxes, cleaning it. Chibi-Robo vacuums up some dust, and finds a ring after using the Chibi-Sieve. Jenny takes it. After reporting to Karl, he is confused why there was only one ring.

You can find the other ring in the Don's tent. The Don will not let Karl have it unless he plays a maru-batsu (○×, which usually function as yes-no). Karl accepts the challenge, only to give the wrong answer to a stupidly easy math question. Karl is forced to work, entertaining the casino, until the Phantom's Secret Treasure under the floorboards is found and delivered to Don's tent.

The Free Rangers, looking for the treasure as well, abandon Sarge due to hard feelings after 10 treasures are discovered. Sarge, noticing them gone, goes after them to bring them back, realizing he needs them. The Phantom's Secret Treasure reveals itself, turning out to be love for one another. The Free Rangers' storyline also completes, rewarding their wall art. Chibi-Robo takes the "love" and delivers it to the Don. The Don will have him answer a second maru-batsu quiz, but this time Chibi-Robo answers, getting the right answer and the ring.

Once Chibi-Robo saves up 30,000 Moolah in the Savings Frog, Karl will tell you to bring it to Keith. Going to retrieve it, Don De Niro appears to "collect debt," sucking up all the money, making him huge. This will start the game's final boss battle where you have to vacuum all of the Moolah from the Don. Once beaten, the Moolah is given to Keith, who swiftly buys the dress.

The following night, Chibi-Robo and Telly wake Jenny up, telling her not to ask questions and go outside after she's changed. Jenny is shocked by Karl, having returned, standing at the altar in front of her. After getting over her shock, she is overjoyed to be getting married and Karl apologizes for taking so long. After they exchange rings and kiss, Karl has his destiny fulfilled and begins ascending, waving goodbye and exclaiming "See ya." Jenny is distraught with sadness and grief, but she hugs Keith after he comforts her, and seems to accept Karl's passing.
