Sophie (Japanese name: ベベ or "Bebe") is a toy in Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure!, belonging to Tao. She is a stuffed caterpillar with huge eyes and many bright colors. Sophie has strong feelings for Drake Redcrest, thinking about him near constantly. She writes her innermost thoughts in her diary when she believes no one's looking. She can be in found in several places throughout the game, most often in the Kitchen on the counter.
She also posted a real-world diary online for a few years.
Appearance
Sophie is a colorful caterpillar and has two large eyes with eyelashes, and mouth with big red lips. Her body is segmented into 5 round parts, including her head, each with different colors and patterns. She has orange feather-like protrusions on her tail, and large purple antenna. Her butterfly form gains wings and a shorter body, and is slightly see-through.
Personality
Sophie is shy and easily frightened. She acts a bit like a teenage girl and loves writing her thoughts in her diary. She faints easily and gets nervous near Drake Redcrest.
Storyline
Sophie is one of the first toys met in Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure. She is first seen in the Living Room, blocking the passage to the Kitchen. She at first assumes Chibi-Robo was peeping on her diary, but quickly comes to understand that he didn't mean to. She will leave into the kitchen if Chibi-Robo poses at her with the Drake Redcrest suit.
After completing the Mort and Princess Pitts story, Sophie begins writing love letters to Drake Redcrest. Sophie writes three letters, all of which she loses. Upon finding one of Sophie's letters, Telly will appear and insist to read it. The love letters can then be given to either Drake Redcrest or Sophie. After giving the third letter to Sophie, she will head to the living room, admiring Drake from a distance. She asks Chibi-Robo to help her give him the letter in any way possible. Posing in the ghost suit next her scares her, causing her to faint. Drake quickly arrives to help her, only to realize there is no threat. He takes the letter and flies off, leaving Sophie in shock. She faints once more, this time out of love, and her spirit, which looks like a butterfly version of her, flies off and watches Drake from behind at all times. Talking to her again returns it to her.
Posing at her with the Drake Redcrest or Ghost suit at any time after this causes her spirit to fly off again.
Trivia
- Sophie doesn't seem to mind being chewed on by Tao, being a dog toy. Being chewed on is natural for her.
- For some reason, she enjoys falling down the stairs. This likely ties in to her being a dog toy.
- Sophie writes in her diary that she has been with the Sandersons since before Jenny was born.
