Story

There are a handful of mentions of Karl throughout the story, but you learn more after the family meeting where Keith says he wants a dad.

Keith's exclamation makes Jenny uncomfortable, and on subsequent nights she will lock the door to her room. By entering the room via the pipe connected to the pond, you can talk to Jenny and she will explain the story of her and Karl. They dated but Karl never seemed interested in getting married, even after having Keith together. However, shortly before he died in an accident, Karl seemed to have maybe changed his mind. His untimely death left Jenny's dream of getting married unfulfilled.

After putting 10,000 Moolah into the savings jar to fulfill Keith's goal, there will be a commotion on the following night. Karl's soul will be pulled from the afterlife and transferred into the frog-shaped jar, bringing him back to life, but Karl wonders if he can get back his human form somehow. Moonlight comes in through the window and Karl (as a frog) turns human-sized. Jenny wakes up and comes to see what's happening. Karl hides behind the kitchen doorway curtain until she leaves. When the moonlight disappears, he turns tiny again.

Karl tells Chibi-Robo that he wants to put on a wedding and marry Jenny. He first goes off to look for Lucky, who supposedly has an item of his. He will stop in multiple rooms, and you'll have to find and talk to him in each one until he arrives in the Backyard. Karl learns that Lucky buried the item he was looking for, so he asks Chibi-Robo to find it.

After digging up the item and delivering it to Karl, his soul will be freed from the jar and turn into a human. Unfortunately, he's still tiny. Since he only becomes human-sized with moonlight, Karl decides the wedding will be outdoors at night. So, Chibi-Robo and friends set up their own secret savings goal of 30,000 Moolah to buy Jenny a wedding dress. Keith finds out about everything and is more than happy to help. First, they ask Chibi-Robo to figure out Jenny's dress size, which you can do by measuring her while she is sleeping.

Karl then asks Chibi-Robo to go look for the set of wedding rings he bought before he died, which should be in the cardboard boxes inside Jenny's room. When you visit Jenny's room, she's in the crawlspace cleaning. Chibi-Robo vacuums up the dust, and finds one ring after panning the dust. Jenny takes it. After reporting to Karl, he is confused why there was only one ring.

You can find the other ring in the Don ghost's tent. But the Don will not let you have it unless you play a maru-batsu (○×, which usually function as yes-no) quiz and get the right answer. Karl accepts the challenge, only to give the wrong answer to a stupidly easy math question. Karl is forced to work in the casino until Chibi-Robo can bring back the secret treasure that the Free Rangers were looking for under the floorboards. You can only get the true treasure after you have found all the buried items there.

When you talk to Sarge, he will go make a comment to his men only to finally realize they aren't there. He will go look for them and bring the men back, realizing he needs them. The true treasure turns out to be love for one another. This also completes the Free Rangers' storyline and you'll receive their wall art. Chibi-Robo takes the "love" and delivers it to the Don. The Don will have you do a second maru-batsu quiz, but this time Chibi-Robo gives the answer instead of Karl. After answering right, you'll get the ring.

Once you save up 30,000 Moolah and put it in the coin jar, Karl will tell you to bring it all to Keith. When you go back to the coin jar, the Don ghost will appear and suck up all the money, making him huge. This will start the game's final boss battle where you have to retrieve all of the Moolah from the Don. Once you beat him, deliver the money to Keith and he will go buy a dress. Chibi-Robo and Telly then give the dress to Jenny after waking her up in the middle of the night, and bring her outside after she's changed.

Jenny is shocked to see Karl. After getting over her shock, she is overjoyed to be getting married and Karl apologizes for taking so long. After they exchange rings and kiss, Karl turns back into a ghost and begins ascending to heaven. Jenny is stricken with sadness and grief, and she hugs Keith after Karl vanishes.
