Sarge, as he appears in the Japanese version of Chibi-Robo! Plug into Adventure!

Sarge is the leader of the Free Rangers, an army made up of small plastic egg soldiers, in Chibi-Robo! Plug into Adventure!

Storyline

He is met early in the game, from when Chibi-Robo first enters the foyer. He perceives Chibi-Robo as a threat, commanding his men to fire at him. Using the mug, Chibi-Robo can protect himself from the bullets and reach the basement, leaving Sarge to realize that Chibi-Robo might not be a threat at all. Visiting the foyer again, Sarge stands on the stairs as he trains his men. From this point, Chibi-Robo can join the Free Rangers in their training, eventually facing against Tao with them to save the lost Free Ranger, Memphis.

He also appears in Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richie Ōsōji! with two other Free Rangers. They can be found under the kitchen, searching for lost treasures left by the family.

Appearance

Sarge is a 11cm tall plastic egg soldier. He is red, and wears a camo army outfit with short sleeves, with black sleeves under the camo. He has a star badge on his left side, and a beret with the Free Rangers symbol on the front. He also carries a toy gun. He is missing his right eye, with an X shaped scar in its place, and his expression is usually stern.

In the localized version of the game, his appearance is slightly different; his gun is changes to a more wooden appearance. He was also given a small round nose.

In the New Play Control version of the game, he has white gloves.

His appearance is slightly different in Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richie Ōsōji! His hat is replaced with a mining helmet, he has no black sleeves or pants, and he wears white gloves.

Personality

Sarge is a strict and aggressive drill sergeant. He commands his men proudly, insulting them if they fail. He is constantly shouting orders and giving speeches, much to the Free Ranger's displeasure. In truth, he cares about his men very much, explaining that he was hard on them so that he would not lose any more of them. He's very emotional, crying over his men on multiple accounts, and later on learns the true value of friendship.

Trivia

  • He is a fan of Space Hunter Drake Redcrest, asking for an autograph if you talk to him in the Drake Redcrest suit, but getting nervous to finish his sentence.
  • Shooting Sarge with the Chibi Blaster causes him to fall over, as if he was defeated.
  • Using the toothbrush on him prompts him to thank you for shining his boots, which he explains are named Lewis and Tito. He rewards you with 1000 Moolah and 13 Happy Points.
  • Sarge refers to Mr. Sanderson as General Sanderson, possibly due to him being depicted as the 'man of the house'.
  • He lost his eye when Tao, the dog, attacked him sometime in the past.
  • He seems to be friends with Captain Plankbeard, or at least holds some respect for him.
  • He has an especially close relationship with the Free Ranger, Memphis. Once Memphis is rescued, they are always seen together.
  • In the Japanese version of the game, there is two voice clips for sarge that are not in the localized version.
